History

Monsignor Leo Cleary and the Sisters of Saint Joseph opened St. Mary School, Port Hope in 1956 and then St. Anthony in 1960. An addition, including 8 classrooms, a gym, refurbished library and new office area, was added to St. Anthony in 1996. In December 2009, St. Mary School closed and a 2 story Primary/Intermediate wing was added to St. Anthony, including two full kindergarten rooms and a meeting room. The school now holds approximately 363 students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8.

Bell Times

Each school day has the following schedule: 

9:10 A.M - Supervision

9:25 A.M. - Entry Bell

10:55 A.M. - 11:10 A.M - Recess

12:30 P.M. - 1:25 P.M. - Lunch

2:45 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. - Recess

3:50 P.M. - Dismissal 

 

Parish Information

The school comes together to celebrate monthly school masses at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, led by Father Gerard McMahon. The school also holds Monday morning candle lighting services at the school during Advent to reflect on the true meaning of the season. During Holy Week the grade 8 students present a dramatic Presentation of the Stations of the Cross.
