Eco Club

St. Anthony school has an enthusiastic and dedicated Eco-Club. Our goal is to promote stewardship in our community and respect for our global environment. Through many different projects students come together in hands-on, social activities that instil a sense of service, respect for nature, and a feeling of accomplishment. We have created many school green spaces including a vegetable garden grown from student planted seeds. The Eco-Club has an active grade eight Compost Crew that takes care of all of our classroom compost bins ensuring rich compost for our gardens every Fall. Our plastics crew separates soft plastics from regular recycling and also manages our juice-pouch brigade that diverts non-recyclable juice containers to a company named Terra Cycle which re-purposes them and offers us 2 cents for each container collected. Our Earth week activities also promote waste reduction and energy conservation within our school community. We are proud of our Eco-club at St. Anthony and the many ways they help us all live a little"greener" lives.
