Board Game Club
Board Game Club is off to a great start with a solid core of members who meet in the library each Tuesday during lunch recess. The students enjoy playing classic games like Scrabble and Pictionary as well as a variety of new games each week.
Catholic Social Justice Group
Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to join the Catholic Social Justice Group. The goal of the group is to put our faith in action by supporting members of our school community, our broader community and the world. Members of the Catholic Social Justice Group lead Advent and Lent activities. They organize and implement the Advent Food drive in support of our local food bank and the Lenten Clothing Drive in support of St. Vincent dePaul.
St. Anthony school has an enthusiastic and dedicated Eco-Club. Our goal is to promote stewardship in our community and respect for our global environment. Through many different projects students come together in hands-on, social activities that instil a sense of service, respect for nature, and a feeling of accomplishment. We have created many school green spaces including a vegetable garden grown from student planted seeds. The Eco-Club has an active grade eight Compost Crew that takes care of all of our classroom compost bins ensuring rich compost for our gardens every Fall. Our plastics crew separates soft plastics from regular recycling and also manages our juice-pouch brigade that diverts non-recyclable juice containers to a company named Terra Cycle which re-purposes them and offers us 2 cents for each container collected. Our Earth week activities also promote waste reduction and energy conservation within our school community. We are proud of our Eco-club at St. Anthony and the many ways they help us all live a little"greener" lives.
Fitness Friends is a program supported by Variety Village that began in 1999 as an ideal way for students of all abilities to get active - together! Fitness Friends takes place outside of class - recess/ breaks or at lunch.
Two students are paired together as Fitness Friends encouraging students who may not know each other to enjoy physical activities. Activities can include games, sports or recreation - activities are active, fun and inclusive.
Each minute of activity counts as one point for each Fitness Friends team. Fitness Friends submit their recording sheet/points to their educator weekly. At the conclusion of the year, all participants are invited to celebrate their successes at an end of year party with Fitness Friends from schools all over the region.
Thank you to Mrs. Sedgwick for-leading this wonderful activity for our students.
The St. Anthony Lego Robotics Club enables students to build, program, and test their Lego creations based on real-life robotics technology. Students are encouraged to brainstorm in order to find creative solutions to problems and then develop them through a process of selecting, building, testing, and evaluating. This is an excellent way of getting students to talk to each other and cooperate as well as giving them hands-on experience with an array of sensors, motors, and intelligent units.
Here is a list of the sport and clubs our school offers. If you are interesting in participating in any of these options, please feel free to talk to the teacher in charge for more information.
